About the Farm
Background
Jumpin' Good Goat Dairy was founded by Dawn Jump in 2002 with a vision to combine her passion for goats and cheese-making while promoting sustainable food practices. In 2008, Dawn and her family established the dairy and creamery in Buena Vista, Colorado. Over the years, the business has grown with the support of a dedicated staff and community, becoming known for its award-winning cheeses that blend old-world traditions with innovative flavors.
Practices
The farm is dedicated to sustainable agriculture, emphasizing the importance of local food systems and the respectful treatment of animals. Their goats are lovingly cared for, and the farm also raises whey-fed, pasture-raised pigs. The cheese-making process is a blend of traditional techniques and creative adaptations, resulting in cheeses that are both familiar and surprising. The farm also supports local agriculture by offering products from other local farmers, such as organic eggs, jellies, meats, honey, soaps, and artisan chocolates.
The Rest
Visitors can enjoy educational farm tours on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, where they can see cheese production, milk a dairy goat, and meet the farm's pigs and baby goats. The Jumpin' Good Country Store offers tastings of their cheeses and sells all 38 varieties produced on the farm, along with other local products. Their cheeses are available in Colorado King Sooper's, City Markets, and many local food co-ops and natural food stores. The farm also ships cheese across the United States through their online store.
