About the Farm
Background
In 2015, the owners felt led to purchase a property and spent the next year fixing up the house and installing fencing. By 2016, they began referring to it as 'The farm,' which soon became 'Jolly Folly Farm.' The farm's purpose continues to reveal itself, helping both people and animals.
Practices
Using certified organic feed in barnyard feeders, the hens and geese mainly freely forage 16 acres of pasture. They sprout whole seeds for feed and never use artificial lighting or any other unnatural means to increase production. The chickens can roam the entire property daily and are cared for as members of the farm. The farm maintains a 'forever flock,' providing a retirement for laying hens to live out their lives naturally after they stop laying. The farm also homes rescue equine.
The Rest
The farm sells eggs, jams made from their own herbicide and pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, and farm-themed t-shirts. Eggs are available for purchase most Fridays at the Earlysville Exchange, with farm direct pick-up available seven days a week via text. The farm's motto is 'pursuing the art of the egg, one masterpiece at a time.'
