About the Farm
Background
Jodar Farms has been a family-run farm since the Rice family moved to the east Vine property in 1992. In 2009, Aaron Rice graduated from Colorado State University and decided to trade his Geology degree for rubber boots and leather gloves to raise meat chickens, pork, and eggs. Influenced by farmers and writers such as Michael Pollan, Joel Salatin, and Elliot Coleman, Aaron committed to raising animals with the same basic ideals that started Jodar Farms. Over the years, the farm's growing models have evolved and adapted to increased production and the steep learning curve involved with raising pastured and free-range animals.
Practices
Jodar Farms employs free-range and pasture-based growing methods, creating habitats that allow animals to partake in natural behaviors. This approach ensures high-quality products in terms of flavor, freshness, and grade. The farm maintains complete records of where their animals come from, how they are raised, and where they are processed, allowing customers to make informed decisions about their food.
The Rest
Jodar Farms offers CSA memberships for both Summer and Winter seasons, focusing on chicken, eggs, and pork. They also provide bulk half and whole hog orders. Orders can be made through their online farm store, with weekly drop-offs at various Front Range locations. The farm's products are featured on the menus of some of the best restaurants in Fort Collins and are available to CSA and Online Farm Store customers up and down the Front Range.
