About the Farm

Background

In the late 18th century, Tom Jackson's great-great-great-grandfather and his best friend married sisters in a double ceremony. For their wedding trip, the newlyweds boarded a ship to America. Before they reached American shores, a hurricane caused the women to vow that if they ever reached dry land, they would never sail again. When the boat reached the Carolina coast, they took up land and stayed. Since then, the farm has stayed in the family.

Practices

Employing chemical-free farming methods, the farm focuses on sustainable practices that respect the land and its natural resources.

The Rest

The farm offers an outdoor wedding venue with a 3-acre parking lot, providing grooming, water, electricity, and clean-up services. Additionally, there is a very private guest house on a 10-acre gated wildlife preserve with a private fishing pond. The guest house features two bedrooms, central heat and air, a large claw-footed tub with bath salts and fresh organic herbs, a working fireplace with seasoned hardwood, and a kitchen equipped with a large smoker/grill, microwave, and other amenities. Guests can enjoy about two miles of woodland trails and abundant wildlife, with no pets allowed due to allergy concerns. The location is conveniently close to historic Wilmington, Fayetteville, and Raleigh, with easy access to I-95 and I-40.
