About the Farm
Background
In 2010, the Iverstine Family purchased 65 acres in Kentwood, Louisiana, and began producing quality cattle. The farm quickly doubled in size. By 2016, they opened a full-service butcher shop and smokehouse in Baton Rouge to provide local farm-raised meats while supporting local farming partners. In 2022, they expanded their network to include more trusted farms with the same commitment to quality, allowing them to focus on providing premium fresh cuts to the community.
Practices
The farm respects the design of creation by working with natural resources, seeing themselves as stewards of the land. They develop sustainable growth techniques and prioritize transparency in their farming practices. The farm supports responsible farming methods that respect both the land and the animals. They work directly with small-scale local farms and use a whole animal approach to offer high-quality, unique cuts.
The Rest
The farm prides itself on being the only whole animal butcher in Baton Rouge, offering hand-cut and hand-trimmed meats by expert butchers. Their Market & Eatery is open daily with hot plate lunches and products from local vendors. They are passionate about educating customers on the importance of sourcing from local farms and invite customers to visit their store to learn more about their responsible farming methods.
