About the Farm
Background
Located on the College of Marin's Indian Valley Campus, the Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden (IVOFG) was established to support local food systems and organic agriculture, educate and develop the local agricultural workforce, and provide fresh, healthy food for local residents. Managed by the College of Marin with support from The Cultural Conservancy and UCCE Marin Master Gardeners, the farm has become a cornerstone of the community's agricultural education and food supply.
Practices
Certified organic farming methods are employed to cultivate a diverse array of vegetables, fruits, and nursery plants. The farm integrates educational programs to teach sustainable agricultural practices, emphasizing hands-on learning for students and volunteers. The interconnectedness of farming, ecology, and human health is a core focus, ensuring that the land is treated with care and respect.
The Rest
Visitors are welcome Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am – 2 pm, to meet the staff, take self-guided tours, volunteer, or join the CSA Program. The farm stand operates on Saturdays from 10 am – 1 pm, July through October. The CSA program offers seasonal produce boxes from May to November, available for pickup at both the Indian Valley and Kentfield Campuses. The farm also provides opportunities for College of Marin students to participate in Work Study and Work Experience Programs, or to volunteer.
