Home Grown Farm

The farm has long been dedicated to raising animals in their natural environment, focusing on breeds like Barred Rocks, Marans, Araucanas, and South Poll cattle. The addition of sheep to the farm marks a recent expansion, with lamb soon to be available.

Chickens range outside during the day and are secured in coops at night. Cattle are completely grass-fed, receiving dried grass or hay only when necessary in winter. Hogs are allowed to root, graze, and bask in the fresh air and sunshine. All animals are fed a hand-mixed ration free of hormones and antibiotics, and are given natural kelp or seaweed for its valuable minerals.

The South Poll cattle breed, created by Teddy Gentry, is known for its ability to fatten naturally on grass, fertility, longevity, good dispositions, heat tolerance, and good udders. More information on this breed can be found at www.southpoll.com.
