About the Farm
Background
The journey began with a premature calf named Maggie, who was nursed back to health by Rebecca and Alex. After Maggie, Dolly and Jolene joined the farm, and the couple decided to honor Maggie by naming their dairy barn after her. Their Jerseys have been shown at local fairs by students from the Jackson area career center, continuing a tradition of community involvement and education.
Practices
The farm's philosophy centers on deep love and care for their animals, treating their Jerseys as family pets. This approach ensures that the cows are well-treated and healthy, contributing to the quality of the milk they produce. The farm also collaborates with local agricultural students, providing hands-on learning experiences and supporting the 4-H community.
The Rest
The farm offers herdshare memberships, allowing members to receive fresh milk weekly. The farm store operates on a self-serve basis for herdshare members, with extensive hours throughout the week. The farm continues to work closely with local agricultural students, raising dairy bull calves for them to show at fairs.
