About the Farm

Background

Hickory Bluff Farms has been home to award-winning Huacaya alpacas since 1998, starting with 5 females and 3 males and growing to a herd of over 50. For the past five years, they have maintained this number, focusing on the individual personalities and achievements of their alpacas.

Practices

The farm is dedicated to breeding strong livestock with excellent conformation and fiber suited to the Tennessee climate. The comfort and health of the alpacas are prioritized, with facilities designed after two years of research to ensure the alpacas' well-being. The barns feature comfortable stalls, abundant pastures, and sturdy fencing, allowing for segregation and ease of handling for breeding, birthing, training, and health care.

The Rest

The farm offers tours by appointment and has a store selling garments, yarn, and fiber from their alpacas, as well as high-quality garments imported from Peru. They emphasize continued education about alpacas and have experience in processing alpaca fiber into roving and yarns. The farm's dedication to superior nutrition and health care, combined with careful breeding, results in excellent fleece and well-dispositioned alpacas.
