About the Farm
Background
Located in the foothills of the North Cascades in Skagit Valley, the family farm has been raising Scottish Highland Cattle since the early 1990s. John Bates, inspired by his Welsh grandfather's admiration for the breed, started the farm in 1995 with his wife Jean. Over the years, they have become known for providing high-quality beef and breeding stock, earning a reputation for their tender, juicy, and flavorful beef.
Practices
The farm raises its cattle on lush green pastures, offering both grain-finished and grass-finished options. The animals are not fed any antibiotics, hormones, steroids, or animal byproducts. The beef is dry-aged for 21 days to enhance its flavor and tenderness. The farm emphasizes natural raising methods and open pastures, ensuring the cattle are treated with love and respect.
The Rest
Highland beef is naturally leaner and lower in cholesterol, making it a healthy choice for beef connoisseurs. The breed's quality is so renowned that Queen Elizabeth II maintains a fold at Balmoral Castle. The farm is located in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range.
