About the Farm
Background
Located 25 miles east of Pittsburgh in Westmoreland County, this 110-acre farm has become known for its grass-fed Barbados X Dorper lambs and ewes. These breeds, originating from South Africa, are celebrated for their grazing and browsing capabilities as well as their high-quality meat.
Practices
The farm utilizes open fields and naturally wooded pastures to raise their hair breeds of sheep. The ewes, known for their strong maternal characteristics, are capable of lambing on pasture and adapting to various climates. The farm emphasizes organic practices and grass-feeding to ensure the health and quality of their livestock.
The Rest
Whole lambs are available for purchase from September to December, with carcasses typically weighing between 40-65 pounds. Customers are encouraged to pre-order to ensure availability. Additionally, the farm offers tanning of sheep hides upon request.
