About the Farm
Background
In the 1950s and 60s, Arthur Hazen purchased 25 acres in Commerce Township and 80 acres in Howell, Michigan. After clearing the land with his son Dennis, they planted over 25 acres of blueberry bushes, laying the foundation for Hazen's Farms. Over time, the farms consolidated in Howell and transitioned to a strictly U-pick operation.
Practices
All produce is grown using organic methods, ensuring high-quality fruits and vegetables for their customers. The farm participates in Community Supported Agriculture, offering shares of their harvest to local families.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of homemade confections through their bakeshop, Sweet Marias, including pies, ice cream, cookies, and muffins. Customers can place online orders to reserve their sweets for pick-up. The farm also plans to offer baking classes after Labor Day and hosts special events upon request.
