About the Farm
Background
Located in Mosier, Oregon, about 5 miles east of Hood River, the garden benefits from over 200 days of sunshine a year. The garden is managed by Michael Harpole and Bay Bruce, both registered nurses, with Mike now dedicating himself full-time to the garden. They have sold their produce at the Mosier farmers market, Double Mountain Brewing, Ring Side, and Mississippi Pizza and Pub.
Practices
Everything at the garden is done by hand, including weeding, minimal tilling, planting, and harvesting. No herbicides, pesticides, or petroleum products are used. The land is largely left to its natural state.
The Rest
The garden is small but highly productive, offering a variety of produce such as lettuce, kale, sugar ann peas, arugula, mixed greens, heirloom tomatoes, collards, beets, broccoli, scallions, leeks, garlic scapes, herbs, basil, cucumbers, beans, sweet peppers, hot peppers, winter squash, and poblano peppers.
