About the Farm

Background

Purchased in 2002 by Bill Half and Ellen Gershun, the farm is located at 1900 feet elevation in Walden, Vermont, and was previously a 256-acre dairy operation. The farm has received recognition, including the Vermont Sustainable Agriculture Council Award in 2011 for its partnership with the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital of St. Johnsbury.

Practices

The farm employs organic farming methods on 6 acres of land, growing over 40 types of vegetables and small fruits. It features three greenhouses for tomatoes and one for seedlings and curing onions and winter squash. Neighboring dairy farmers mow the hay fields.

The Rest

The farm offers a unique workplace model CSA and seeks interns to experience the challenges of farming in Walden, Vermont. The farm is known for its community engagement and has a variety of recipes available for the produce it grows.
