About the Farm
Background
In 1975, George Rude began raising a handful of quail on two acres of a farm located in the historic village of Griggstown in Princeton, N.J. The property was initially owned by Peter Josten, and by 1992, George Rude had purchased the land, expanding the Griggstown Quail Farm to over 65 acres. The farm grew to raise pheasants, quail, chickens, and seasonal Mallard and Muscovy ducks, turkeys, and partridge. Known for its all-natural, hormone-free, and antibiotic-free birds, the farm has maintained these standards since its inception.
Practices
The farm adheres to all-natural methods, ensuring that all birds are free of growth hormones and antibiotics. They are raised cage-free without overcrowding, promoting animal welfare. The farm also houses a USDA processing plant, where poultry is processed five days a week. The land is treated with care, preserving its natural state and promoting biodiversity.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of products, including free-range heritage breed turkeys, traditional white turkeys, and pheasants, particularly popular during Thanksgiving. Customers can also enjoy freshly-harvested vegetables and herbs, with an adjacent garden allowing for the picking of fresh culinary herbs and flowers. The farm's USDA kitchen uses its produce to create high-quality prepared foods, including their famous chicken pot pies. Deliveries are made daily to distributors and restaurants in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia.
