About the Farm
Background
Coming together in 2020, the year of social distance, Green Things Farm Collective grew out of a deep wish of a few farmers to share the privilege and responsibility of tending to land and feeding a community. Ann Arbor Seed Company, the Land Loom, and Green Things Farm united to grow cooperatively as a new five-member LLC. The farm is known for being a contemporary majority women-owned business in Ann Arbor, providing nourishment and quality of life through organic produce and agricultural events.
Practices
Choosing organic certification and minimal tillage, along with other regenerative practices, the farm cares for the land and grows delicious food for the community. With respect for age-old traditions, practices, and the economics of small-scale farming and land stewardship, the farm pioneers new successful models of regenerative agriculture that reflect the world today and move towards a healthier future.
The Rest
The farm operates a self-serve Farm Stand open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, featuring produce, flowers, gardening supplies, local food, and more. Memberships support the farm and provide a bountiful season of fresh vegetables and flowers. The farm also engages in fundraising efforts for infrastructure and a food donation fund. The farmers recognize they are caretaking land historically home to Mississauga, Potowatomi, Anishinabewaki, Peoria, and Fox peoples.
