About the Farm
Background
Green's MM Beefalo Farm got its first beefalo in 2001, starting with four heifers and a bull. Over the years, they have expanded their herd and primarily focus on selling healthy beefalo meat. They have also sold some breeding stock through the years.
Practices
The farm raises Beefalo on grass, ensuring that the animals are naturally raised without the use of steroids, hormones, or antibiotics. Beefalo, a cross between domestic cows and the American bison, is known for its low cholesterol, low fat, low calories, and high protein content. The meat cooks in half to two-thirds the time of regular beef.
The Rest
Beefalo contains a minimum of 17% bison, with full-blood Beefalo containing 37.5% bison. The farm is located near several towns in Michigan, including Mendon, Three Rivers, Vicksburg, Schoolcraft, Portage, Galesburg, and Battle Creek.
