About the Farm

Background

Elizabeth Dannemiller Merachnik, a native of New Smyrna Beach, founded the farm after gaining experience at organic farms across the country through WWOOF USA. The farm has become a staple in the community, known for its organic produce available at local farmers' markets, restaurants, and health food stores. In 2020, the Giving Garden was established to donate 100% of its produce to the local food bank, Gifts of Love in Edgewater.

Practices

The farm operates on a 'beyond organic' philosophy, emphasizing the use of organic, heirloom, and rare seed varietals. Free range eggs and all natural chickens are part of their offerings. The farm also focuses on seasonal planting, with crops like beans, tomatoes, peppers, and various tropical fruits suited to Florida's climate. Cover cropping is used to build soil health, and there is a strong emphasis on education and transparency in their farming practices.

The Rest

The farm serves the community through a CSA program and participation in the New Smyrna Beach Farmers' Market from October to June. They also offer educational programs and volunteer opportunities through the Giving Garden. The farm's produce can be found at local restaurants and health food stores.
