About the Farm

Background

Full Cellar Farm was started in 2014 in Gresham and has been stewarding 6 acres of south-facing land near the headwaters of Johnson Creek since 2019. The farm is inspired by the natural beauty of Mt. Hood and Johnson Creek, and aims to create a welcoming environment for all members. The farm's founder, Emily Cooper, began her farming journey in 2008 and has since developed a passion for the balance between art and science in agriculture. The team includes Rachael Crane, Julia Stone, and Amy Wooley, each bringing their unique backgrounds and love for farming to the operation.

Practices

Full Cellar Farm employs sustainable growing methods including crop rotation, drip irrigation, cover crops, responsible tillage, and natural amendments to improve soil, water, and ecosystem health. The farm never uses synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, and most of the work is done using people power. They are Certified Organic and Salmon Safe by Oregon Tilth, and prioritize the use of organic seeds, limit plastic use, and follow recommended food safety practices. The farm also takes care of its employees by offering competitive wages, paid overtime, and paid time off, while prioritizing worker health and safety.

The Rest

Full Cellar Farm offers several types of CSA shares, including a 'Fill Your Cellar' share for those interested in preserving food. They host yearly work parties and open houses to engage the community. The farm's location near Johnson Creek and Mt. Hood provides a picturesque setting that inspires their work and commitment to the land.
