About the Farm

Background

Jenn, originally from the San Jose Bay area, always felt drawn to farm life. During high school, she engaged in rodeos, 4-H, and local horse shows, bringing home various biology projects, including baby chickens. At 19, she moved to San Luis Obispo County, where she met her husband, bought a small urban farm, and started a family. Jenn's diverse educational background includes internships with a large animal vet, studies in early childhood education, emergency medical technology, nursing, and fine arts, along with certificates in welding, fine art, children's program curriculum, and medical assisting.

Practices

Jenn runs the farm with a philosophy she describes as 'Organized chaos,' managing multiple tasks simultaneously. She is a hands-on farmer, personally tilling the garden, meeting with restaurant chefs, and butchering birds herself. Jenn emphasizes the importance of knowing where food comes from and fosters this understanding through direct involvement in all farm activities.

The Rest

Jenn is committed to educating children about the circle of life and the workings of the farm, often collaborating with parents and teachers. She values community support and acknowledges that her farm's success is deeply intertwined with the backing of her clients and local community.
