About the Farm
Background
John Forneris, a third-generation farmer, began his own farming business in 1966 after graduating from high school. He opened his first farm stand in Mission Hills, California, and has successfully retained that location for over 50 years. Over the decades, John expanded his operations, including a farm stand in Simi Valley and participating in the Agriculture Educational Center project at Pierce College. By 2020, John had entered his fifty-fifth season of farming, providing the community with fresh produce and a Fall Harvest Festival.
Practices
The farm focuses on growing a diverse array of row crops, including corn, tomatoes, strawberries, squash, green beans, cucumbers, peppers, melons, herbs, onions, and pumpkins. The produce is sold directly to customers at the farm market, ensuring freshness and supporting local agriculture.
The Rest
The farm market is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm, from Spring through December. In October, visitors can enjoy a Pumpkin Patch, a 4-acre Corn Maze, and a narrated Tractor-pulled Train Ride. The farm does not offer self-harvesting experiences, and the fields are closed to the public.
