About the Farm
Background
Nine years ago, the founders ventured to Australia to work on an organic vegetable farm, seeking a break from their office jobs. This experience inspired them to start their own farm, which has now grown into a small family business passionate about bringing local food to their community. Known for their Certified Organic produce, they have become a staple in local markets and restaurants, and they proudly participate in the Farm to School program for the Jamestown Public School district.
Practices
The farm operates on a CSA (community supported agriculture) model, which fosters a direct relationship between the farmers and their members. This model ensures early-season operational funds and shares the risks and rewards of farming with the community. They emphasize seasonal eating and the importance of understanding the origins of one's food. Their farming practices are rooted in organic principles, focusing on soil health and ecological balance. The farm's diversified approach includes growing a variety of vegetables, raising goats and chickens, and producing artisan sourdough bread.
The Rest
Located just north of Streeter, North Dakota, the farm offers members access to the farm and its events, encouraging a hands-on relationship with the land. Their products are available at local restaurants, the BisMan Community Food Co-op, BisMarket farmers market, and through their CSA program in Bismarck. They also offer a newsletter to keep members updated on their baking schedule and other farm news.
