About the Farm
Background
Noticing a lack of reliable grass-fed beef options in local stores, the Skinner Family began raising beef in 2013. Initially aimed at providing quality meat for their own family, the venture quickly expanded as friends, neighbors, and acquaintances experienced the superior taste of their beef. The ranch has since become known for its transparency and open-door policy, allowing customers to visit and see firsthand how the animals are raised.
Practices
The ranch employs a system of biomimicry, mimicking natural grazing patterns to maintain pasture health. Rotational, intensive, or mob grazing ensures that any given section of pasture is grazed only 24 hours every 30 days, promoting plant material production and increasing topsoil biomass. The animals are raised without soy, GMOs, antibiotics, hormones, synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. This approach respects the animals' innate traits and ensures they live in harmony with their natural behaviors.
The Rest
The ranch emphasizes the importance of grass in the diet of ruminant herbivores like cows and sheep, believing it keeps them healthy and reduces the spread of parasites and disease. They also advocate for natural foraging diets for omnivores like chickens and pigs, avoiding soy and GMOs. The ranch's commitment to high-quality, ethically raised meat results in a premium product that they are proud to offer to their customers.
