About the Farm
Background
Established in 2008, Florida Fresh Beef Company is one of the first companies in almost 20 years to produce fresh local meat available to the public under USDA inspection. The company has developed relationships with various like-minded grass-fed cattle ranchers throughout the state to ensure a consistent supply of healthy, delicious, local Florida beef available in bulk or individual cuts throughout the year.
Practices
Cattle are raised on a pesticide-free 'gourmet' forage diet that includes clover, wheat, oat, and rye grass. They are free-range and graze on 850 acres of lush shaded pasture. The cattle are harvested within 40 miles at a USDA inspected facility, and the carcasses undergo a 28-day 'old school' dry-aging process in an air-ventilated refrigerated locker to naturally tenderize the meat and enhance its taste. Each cut of beef is individually packed in a vacuum bag and air-sealed for freshness.
The Rest
Beef is available by the individual cut, various Variety Packs, or by the whole, half, quarter, or eighth beef. The company ships throughout Florida, Georgia, the Bahamas, the US Virgin Islands, and the continental USA. A South Florida supply outlet is in development for the distribution of both regular and Glatt Kosher beef. Additionally, a share program for CSA’s and Buying Clubs has been developed, allowing carcasses to be divided into 8 or 16 equal shares to make bulk beef more affordable for families. Visit the website for ordering information and to locate farmers markets where the beef is sold.
