About the Farm
Background
The farm's lineage dates back to the 1600s with a long history of farming, though a recent generation had to relearn farming skills after being raised in the city. The family's return to farming was driven by health issues linked to modern life, leading them to pursue a lifestyle centered around slow-grown, home-raised food and a slower pace of life. This journey towards health and self-sufficiency inspired them to open their farm to others, sharing their knowledge and experiences.
Practices
The farm focuses on raising rare, endangered heritage breeds such as Dorkings, Cotton Patch geese, Nigerian Dwarf goats, Guinea hogs, Australorps, Ancona ducks, and Bourbon Red Turkeys. They are committed to preserving agricultural variety and protecting biodiversity. The farm is also in the process of establishing pasture to offer pasture-raised eggs, meat, and milk, making it one of the few farms in Southern California to do so.
The Rest
Visitors can engage in various activities such as feeding animals, milking goats, planting and harvesting crops, and attending classes on cheese making, soap making, and butchering chickens. The farm also offers raw goat milk shares and has rare Cotton Patch goose goslings for sale. Their Airbnb is open year-round, providing a unique farmstay experience.
