About the Farm
Background
The farm has a rich tradition of growing heirloom vegetables and raising heritage breeds of livestock. Known for its diverse range of hot pepper jellies, salsas, and pickled products, the farm has become a local favorite for its unique offerings and commitment to natural farming practices.
Practices
The farm employs natural farming methods, avoiding chemicals, sprays, and growth hormones. GMO seeds are not used, and the focus is on healthy soils and a sustainable environment. Chickens are fed organic feeds, homegrown vegetables, and grains, and are free-ranged year-round when temperatures permit. Heritage hogs, including Mulefoots and Red Wattles/mulefoots, are pasture-raised and supplemented with organic pellets and farm-grown vegetables. Heirloom varieties dominate the vegetable crops, particularly tomatoes.
The Rest
The farm produces a variety of hot pepper jellies, tomatillo salsa, pickled hot peppers, jalapeno peppers, dilled green tomatoes, hot dilly beans, dilly snow peas, dill pickles, and bread and butter pickles. Additionally, several kinds of hot sauce are made from homegrown peppers, and dehydrated peppers are crushed and sold in shakers. Eggs from free-range chickens are also available for sale. Visitors are welcome to tour the farm and meet the chickens and pigs.
