About the Farm

Background

Alyssa Johnston, originally from San Diego, California, transitioned from a career in public health to agriculture after discovering the importance of food production in development. Inspired during a plane ride from Zambia to Malawi, she decided to start a farm upon returning to the United States. Wyatt, with a background in Botany from Oregon State University and extensive farm work experience, shares this passion. Together, they established their farm in Eugene, Oregon, at the base of Mount Pisgah.

Practices

The farm operates on about 1/2 an acre using a minimal till, permanent bed system. They avoid chemical pesticides and fertilizers, focusing instead on natural and regenerative agricultural practices to support healthy soil. Their commitment to stewardship extends from soil care to product packaging.

The Rest

The farm offers CSA shares from May through October and runs a weekly farm stand. They also sell small-batch handmade products from Africa, supporting artisans in impoverished communities. Alyssa and Wyatt invite visitors to engage with their farm through newsletters that provide insights into farm life, their faith, and their journey.
