About the Farm
Background
Ewe & I Farm began in 1992 with just three sheep on a single acre of land. By 2000, the farm expanded to 17 acres and now houses 35 sheep. Initially focused on spinning wool, the farm has grown to include registered Romneys and Horned Dorsets, and it now sells breeding stock and lambs for the Easter meat market. Jerry, who joined the farm in 2007, also shears sheep, goats, alpacas, and llamas for other small farms.
Practices
In 2005, the farm began coating their sheep to ensure the fleeces remain as clean as possible, a practice that reflects their commitment to quality wool. Jerry, an experienced shearer, takes care to avoid second cuts and remove any that do occur, ensuring the highest quality fleece for spinning. The farm's philosophy emphasizes the importance of clean, well-maintained wool and the satisfaction of their customers.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of products including roving, batts, top, homegrown mill spun yarn, handspun yarn, and hand-knit wearables for both humans and dogs. They also engage in educational activities, such as teaching groups how to skirt fleeces. The farm maintains an active blog and participates in local shows to sell their products.
