About the Farm
Background
Located in the Fingerlakes region of upstate New York, Elderberry Pond has been managed using organic and sustainable practices since 1983. In 1999, the farm achieved certification from NOFA-NY Certified Organic, LLC. The farm is known for its diverse array of produce, including over 50 varieties of apples, and its commitment to culinary quality.
Practices
Elderberry Pond focuses on maintaining biodiversity both above and below ground. Natural amendments, traps, and the encouragement of predatory insect populations are used to control insects and plant diseases. The farm's organic practices extend to its pasture-raised meats, including heritage pigs and chickens.
The Rest
Visitors can purchase fresh farm products at the country food store, local farmers markets, and a fine dining restaurant located on the farm. The restaurant features a menu with fresh produce picked daily and pasture-raised meats. The farm also offers organic gardening and orcharding classes, as well as summer farm tours.
