About the Farm
Background
Bob Egly's dream of raising cattle started in 2001 and has grown to involve his son's family, Rob & Chris Egly, and the grandchildren. The farm occupies 100 acres in Paw Paw, Michigan, and is family owned and operated. Known for their Red Devon cattle, the farm purchased a fullblood Black Wagyu bull named Smegly in 2018 to enhance their breeding program.
Practices
The farm employs rotational grazing methods, providing fresh pasture grass daily to control parasites and ensure high-quality nutrition. The cattle are wintered on clover/alfalfa hay grown on the farm. No pesticides, hormones, chemical weed killers, or fertilizers are used, ensuring a natural growing environment. The farm is certified by the Michigan Agriculture Environment Assurance Program (MAEAP) for both land and animal management.
The Rest
The farm is conveniently located near Kalamazoo, St Joseph, Niles, New Buffalo, and northern Indiana, making it accessible to a wide range of customers. They offer farm tours to educate visitors about their farming practices and the origins of their food. The farm's beef is locally grown, and they pride themselves on the quality of their irrigated pastures and high-quality hay. More information can be found on their website and Facebook page.
