About the Farm
Background
EECO Farm, a non-profit enterprise, cares for 42 acres of East Hampton land. It leases gardens to individuals, families, and commercial farmers who agree to use organic methods of growing. The farm is known for its community gardens, which range from novice to very experienced gardeners, and provides resources such as water, compost, and advice. EECO Farm also hosts Full Moon Potluck Dinners for gardeners and their guests from July to September.
Practices
EECO Farm emphasizes organic growing methods and community support. Gardeners are encouraged to support each other and learn from master gardeners on site. The farm provides essential resources like water, compost, and tools, ensuring that all gardeners, from beginners to experts, can thrive. The farm's philosophy revolves around education, stewardship, and advocacy for sustainable agriculture.
The Rest
EECO Farm offers 125 community gardens for rent to the public, featuring fantastic soil, deer protection, unobstructed sun, and free compost. The farm stand, operated by Share the Harvest, sells fresh produce from EECO Farm and other local farms, along with locally sourced artisanal products such as breads, cheeses, jams, sauces, and pies. The farm actively supports local makers, bakers, vendors, and artists.
