About the Farm
Background
Eby Farms began as a run-down homestead with dilapidated buildings and a cornfield for a pasture. Over the past decade, the family has transformed it into a storybook farm with renewed pastures and revitalized buildings. Matt, with a background in construction, creates beautiful and practical pieces from wood cut on their sawmill, while Jen crafts handcrafted soaps and enjoys gardening and cooking from scratch. Their children actively participate in farm activities, contributing to the farm's vibrant life.
Practices
The farm employs intentional rotational grazing for their Scottish Highland and Jersey cows, which are grass-raised and finished, providing superior taste and nutrition. Pigs are naturally raised on non-GMO feed and foraged mast from nut trees, as well as compost piles. Pastured poultry, including broilers and turkeys, are grown in pasture shelters and moved daily to fresh pasture, also fed free-choice non-GMO feed. Laying hens follow the cows in a portable egg-mobile during the warm season and are loose-housed with deep litter bedding in winter. All animals are antibiotic and hormone-free, and the farm is open for visitors to verify production practices.
The Rest
Eby Farms offers their products directly on the farm and through local retail stores. They also provide lodging and host visitors who wish to experience farm life. The farm emphasizes fresh air, beautiful pastures, and a community atmosphere, inviting guests to enjoy porch sitting, chatting, and laughing together.
