About the Farm

Background

Established in May 1998 by Bob and Darlene Mingrone, this farm began with the purchase of four lambs from a local shepherdess. Over the years, it has expanded to include chickens, sheep, llamas, alpacas, and angora rabbits. The farm and its products have been featured in local newspapers and on television, highlighting its growth and community presence.

Practices

Vegetables are grown to organic standards, ensuring a commitment to healthy and sustainable farming practices. The farm produces high-quality handcrafted soaps in small batches using natural ingredients, making them gentle and suitable for all skin types. The raw fiber from their flock is washed, carded, dyed, and spun into uniquely textured yarns. Beeswax candles are hand-rolled with cotton wicks, making them all-natural, non-polluting, non-allergenic, smokeless, and dripless when burned properly.

The Rest

Products are available at the Shelton Farmers Market from May through October and at Jones's Family Farms in Shelton, Ct. The farm also sells its products year-round directly from the farm. Visitors can find a variety of handcrafted items, including soaps, yarns, hats, blankets, and scarves, as well as farm fresh eggs.
