About the Farm

Background

Dubberly's Seafood has been shrimping along the Georgia Coast for over 30 years, spanning three generations. Known for their Sweet Savannah Shrimp™ brand, they were the first shrimp harvester certified to participate in the Georgia Grown program. Their facility is HACCP compliant with regular inspections by the U.S. FDA and the Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Practices

The shrimp are harvested by two boats, Daddy’s Boy and Jenna Renee, which are equipped to store both fresh, never frozen and Individually Quick Frozen shrimp. Each shrimp is hand inspected, sorted, washed, and bagged before being placed in salt water and flash frozen or stored in cold storage. The captains have pledged not to use corn syrup, sugar, artificial preservatives, or sulfites. The boats are equipped with Turtle Excluder Devices and Bycatch Reduction Devices, and they operate with reduced trawl times to ensure sustainable fishing practices.

The Rest

Sweet Savannah Shrimp™ are recommended by the Monterey Bay Aquarium and are noted for their high quality, being free of harmful antibiotics. The National Marine Fisheries Institute reports that the population levels of white shrimp are high and overfishing is not occurring. The shrimp are low in saturated fat and are a very good source of protein, selenium, and vitamin B12. The unique taste and texture of the shrimp are attributed to the nutrients in the coastal waters and the natural behavior of the shrimp.
