About the Farm
Background
Dick's Market Garden is a second-generation family farm spanning over 260 acres in picturesque Lunenburg, MA. Known for growing over 95% of the produce they sell, the farm is managed by Stephen Violette along with several veteran full-time seasonal employees. The farm has a long-standing tradition of participating in over a dozen farmers markets in the Boston and Worcester area, offering an ever-changing variety of fresh items.
Practices
The farm is committed to maintaining high standards of farm food safety and environmental practices, as evidenced by their re-certification under the Commonwealth Quality Program for fresh produce. They grow a diverse array of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, ensuring great freshness and quality. Additionally, they collaborate with local farmers for products like honey and early corn, fostering a community-oriented approach to agriculture.
The Rest
Open daily from mid-April until the day before Thanksgiving, the farm stand in Lunenburg offers a wide range of annuals, perennials, and vegetable plants in the spring and summer. As the season progresses, the focus shifts to fresh-picked fruits, vegetables, greens, and herbs. The farm also offers special sales on flowers and gift items like sweatshirts and gift cards. Their produce is available at the farm stand and numerous farmers markets in the region.
