About the Farm
Background
Started by three local women in Yolo County, this decentralized urban farm began with a shared concern for the environment, community, and a love of organic gardening. They introduced a new CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model that integrates farming into neighborhood gardens and delivers the produce directly to community members.
Practices
The farm operates by growing organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers in various neighborhood gardens. They emphasize organic gardening methods and involve the community by allowing members to host gardens in their own yards. This approach not only brings fresh produce closer to consumers but also fosters a deeper connection between people and the food they eat.
The Rest
The farm offers three share sizes for their CSA program, catering to different household needs. They also provide an opportunity for community members to host a garden in their own yards, where they can choose their favorite herbs and vegetables to be planted. The remaining garden area is used to grow additional produce for other CSA members. Delivery of shares is scheduled on a regular weekly basis, ensuring consistent access to fresh, seasonal produce.
