Deer Run Farm

Located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, this family-owned and operated farm has become a staple in Frederick County. Known for their delicious red angus beef and heritage eggs, the farm prides itself on raising all cattle and chickens on-site, ensuring quality and consistency in their products.

The farm employs a forage-based approach for raising their cows, finishing them with grain to achieve a satisfying taste. They strictly avoid the use of hormones and unnecessary antibiotics. The chickens, consisting of heritage breeds such as Ameraucana, Delaware, Copper Marans, and Welsummer, are pasture-raised and receive a specially formulated feed blend. All animals are born and raised on the farm, with their food also grown and harvested there, promoting a closed-loop system.

Visitors to the farm can purchase beef and eggs directly from the farm store, where they can also meet the healthy and happy animals. The farm also offers a variety of poultry products, including juvenile and pullet chickens, and operates a hatchery for those interested in starting their own flocks.
