About the Farm

Background

Since 1987, Deer Creek Farm and its network of local farms have been providing the Twin Cities area with high-quality, unique produce varieties and jams. Known for their excellent quality and reliable business practices, they have built a reputation among the public and top chefs alike. As a founding member of the Local Harvest Alliance of Scott County, they have been at the forefront of promoting local agriculture.

Practices

Deer Creek Farm raises registered Katahdin sheep, a 'hair sheep' breed developed in Maine for their meat. These sheep grow a fleece in the winter and shed it in the spring, making them relatively easy to raise. They are natural mothers, often birthing twins or triplets, and are generally healthy. The farm also grows a variety of produce including five types of garlic, shallots, cipollini onions, storage onions, heirloom tomatoes of all colors, cherry tomatoes of all colors, summer squash, and black currants.

The Rest

Sales are by appointment only. The farm also offers limited coaching and training for Brittany hunting dogs, with stud service available. More information and photos can be found at Rock Solid Brittanys.
