About the Farm

Background

Located on the historic Stephen D. Wheeler Farmstead in the Coleman Station Historic District, the farm began operations in 1994. Known for developing a unique crossbreed of sheep using English Romney and Border Leicester breeds, the farm has expanded to include pure-bred Coopworth and Finnsheep. Their products have been featured on the menus of numerous fine restaurants and are available at various farmers' markets and festivals throughout the year.

Practices

The farm's livestock is raised organically, free-ranged on rotated pastures, and supplemented with locally grown whole grains. The farm emphasizes humane and sustainable practices, ensuring high-quality, hand-crafted fiber products, Grade AA eggs, and USDA inspected lamb. Compost is available in bags, bulk, or as tea bags, both retail and wholesale.

The Rest

The farm offers a wide range of products including lamb, yarn, roving, batting, sheepskins, handknit items, and various wool-based goods. Edible products include lamb, herbs, vegetables, fruit, baked goods, and free-range colored eggs from a variety of chicken breeds and Toulouse Geese. Farm visits can be scheduled by appointment, and their products are available for wholesale purchase through Farms2Tables. The farm is accessible from NYS Rte 44 and is adjacent to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail.
