About the Farm
Background
Country Taste Farm is known for its commitment to providing fresh, locally grown produce through its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. With over 7 acres under cultivation, the farm offers a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, including apples, asparagus, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, cucumbers, green beans, lettuce, melons, onions, peppers, potatoes, pumpkins, radishes, raspberries, strawberries, sweet corn, squash, tomatoes, and zucchini.
Practices
Country Taste Farm employs Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices and uses OMRI labeled insect and disease sprays to protect plants. The farm grows produce both outside in fields and inside high tunnels, which total 9210 square feet and are equipped with drip irrigation and plastic mulch for weed protection. High tunnels extend the growing season by protecting plants from frost, hail, and cool weather. Soil health is enhanced with natural turkey fertilizer to increase organic matter and microbial activity, along with the addition of necessary soil elements.
The Rest
Visitors can pick up CSA shares or shop at the farm's produce store. The farm emphasizes the shared risk and community connection inherent in the CSA model, fostering a stronger bond between the farm and its members.
