About the Farm

Background

Established in 2007, the Conetoe Family Life Center aims to break the cycle of poverty by enhancing resources available to families, particularly children. The Center is known for its commitment to improving the mental, physical, and spiritual health of the community through various programs and partnerships.

Practices

The Center employs community-supported agriculture (CSA) to teach children how to grow and harvest vegetables and honey. The youth are deeply involved in daily activities, learning sustainable farming practices and the importance of self-preservation. The proceeds from sales are reinvested into the farm and youth health programs, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment among participants.

The Rest

Supported by volunteers, residents, churches, and other organizations, the Center provides healthy foods, resources, and education. It aims to create new economic opportunities by engaging the community, restoring sustainable resources, and building partnerships. The Center is a place where youth and community members feel validated, heard, and empowered to make nonjudgmental decisions for life's challenges.
