About the Farm
Background
Coke Farm began in 1980 when founder Dale Coke planted a quarter-acre of strawberries in Watsonville, California. By 1981, the farm became certified organic by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), the first USDA-accredited organic certifying agency in the United States. Over the years, Coke Farm has grown into a central hub for over 70 organic growers in the region, supplying a wide range of organic produce and contributing significantly to the organic farming movement in California and beyond.
Practices
Coke Farm adheres to strict organic farming practices, focusing on the environmental and social impacts of agriculture. The farm's commitment to organic methods is evident in its certification and its role in the founding of CCOF. By growing a diverse array of crops year-round, Coke Farm maintains soil health and biodiversity, ensuring sustainable production. The farm also emphasizes eco-friendly packaging solutions, such as non-plastic containers for their produce.
The Rest
Coke Farm is not just a producer but also a supporter of the organic farming community, offering grower services that help other organic farmers bring their products to market. The farm is known for its excellent customer service, providing real-time assistance without automated systems. Additionally, Coke Farm is actively involved in community enrichment through charitable endeavors and educational outreach. Their products are available both locally and nationally, catering to a wide range of customers.
