About the Farm
Background
Set in the pastoral hills of Pomfret, Vermont, this diversified working farm has been in the Emmons family since 1908. Known for its spectacular views along the scenic Cloudland Road, the farm has a long-standing tradition of raising black Angus cattle, laying hens, Cornish-cross meat chickens, turkeys, and pastured pigs. Over the years, the farm has expanded to include vegetables, herbs, flowers, and even some friendly cats.
Practices
Committed to providing healthy foods, the farm raises all meats without the use of hormones, antibiotics, or animal by-products. The farm's philosophy emphasizes local sourcing and scratch-made meals, particularly in their on-farm restaurant. The produce served in the restaurant is grown on the farm, and all other ingredients are sourced locally. The farm's market offers a variety of natural Angus beef products, all free of added nitrates, and other local Vermont products.
The Rest
The farm features an on-farm restaurant open two or three nights per week, offering a true farm-to-table dining experience. Reservations are required, and the restaurant is BYOB. Guests can enjoy dining on the porch in the summer or by the fireplace in the winter. The farm market, open on Fridays and Saturdays, sells a range of local products including maple syrup, cheeses, teas, sodas, handmade goat’s milk soaps, and more. Due to the busy farming schedule, the farm cannot accommodate visitors or tours, but the market is open during posted hours.
