About the Farm
Background
In the breathtaking Ozark Mountains of Omaha, Arkansas, the journey of this chestnut farm began in 2019 with a dream to provide the finest chestnuts to the general area. Over the years, the orchard has flourished to over 2,000 chestnut trees, with plans for continued expansion and growth. Known for maintaining superior genetics of chestnut trees, the farm has meticulously selected over 30 seed varieties sourced from thriving Mother trees in the United States.
Practices
The farm places great emphasis on sustainable practices, striving to create an environment that promotes diversity, enhances soil health, and supports the overall longevity of the orchard. The chestnut trees are hardy to the rocky soil of the Ozarks and resistant to blight, ensuring the preservation of this cherished species. Each chestnut seed sown supports regenerative agriculture, capturing carbon and providing food for current and future generations.
The Rest
The chestnut trees are started from seed in March, with many reaching heights of six feet or more in a single year, and some even reaching nine feet. A majority of the trees start producing chestnuts as early as year three. The farm invites chestnut enthusiasts, nature lovers, and curious visitors to explore their story and join their mailing list to be notified when chestnuts and trees are available.
