About the Farm

Background

At the turn of the century, Jody and Beth Osmund were deeply entrenched in professional suburban lives. Jody worked in consulting, while Beth climbed the ranks at Arthur Andersen. The tech bubble burst and the Enron scandal led them to reconsider their priorities. In 2002, they moved to a farmhouse in Ottawa, IL, and started the first CSA in LaSalle County, delivering weekly shares to over 50 members within nine months.

Practices

The farm employs rotational grazing and avoids the use of hormones or antibiotics. These practices ensure the health of the animals and the land, fostering a more ethical and sustainable approach to animal agriculture.

The Rest

The farm offers monthly meat CSA shares including chicken, beef, pork, and eggs, as well as custom butchered beef, pork, and lamb. They host several events and farm tours throughout the year, fostering a close connection between members and their food sources. Pickup locations are available in various areas including Blue Island, Evanston, Logan Square, Lincoln Square, Naperville, Oak Park, Ravenswood, and West Loop.
