About the Farm
Background
Cedar Farms launched its inaugural CSA program in 2016, establishing a partnership between the farm and consumers. The CSA model allows members to pay a fee at the beginning of the growing season, which helps cover operating expenses, in exchange for a weekly share of the farm's production. This arrangement ensures that consumers receive fresh, locally grown food while providing the farmer with a predictable market.
Practices
Cedar Farms employs a combination of high tunnels, heated greenhouses, raised beds, and open field production to cultivate a variety of produce. The farm uses heirloom, organic, and non-GMO seeds and plants whenever available, and follows organic practices by amending the soil with all-natural compost. Although not certified organic, the farm is committed to growing pesticide and herbicide-free produce. The farm also raises pastured chickens, offering a wholesome and nutritious option for CSA members.
The Rest
The CSA program includes options for full and half shares of produce and chickens, catering to different family sizes and preferences. The produce CSA runs for approximately 20 weeks, starting around June 1st, and offers between 4-15+ lbs of fresh produce each week. The chicken CSA provides one pastured chicken per week, with options for half shares and individual bird purchases. Cedar Farms also offers an Egg CSA, allowing members to combine chicken and egg shares for a comprehensive farm-to-table experience.
