About the Farm
Background
Owned by Ron and Kathy Carpenter since 2001, the farm has become known for producing market-sized beef finished between 1000 and 1200 pounds. Customers typically purchase a quarter or half cow, and the farm provides guidance on meat cuts and processing.
Practices
All cows are grass-fed and live in pastures, with some grain introduced to freshly weaned calves to help them acclimate. Depending on the season, cows may receive grain or grass pellets during finishing. The farm leases over 100 acres for grazing and growing local grass hay, ensuring cows are raised on good quality, locally grown green grass and hay from their own pastures. Proper minerals, water, and nutrients are provided to maintain healthy pastures and cattle.
The Rest
The farm collaborates with Sharps meat in Hubbard, Oregon for processing, where customers can make decisions about cuts and packaging. Ron Carpenter, known as 'Ron the Tractor Guy,' manages the pastures and cattle, emphasizing the importance of skilled grass farming.
