About the Farm

Background

Capay Canyon Ranch, founded in 1972 by Stan and Leslie Barth, began as an almond growing operation and expanded into almond handling in 1979. By 1982, the farm diversified by planting organic flame table grapes. In 1996, the almond packing plant was modernized with the latest equipment to enhance efficiency and product quality. Over the past 15 years, the farm has built a strong and loyal grower base, maintaining low grower turnover in a competitive market.

Practices

The farm employs a quality control program that includes electric eye sorters, sizers, aspirators, gravity tables, and hand-sorting to ensure high-quality products. Each bin of almonds is documented by grower, variety, and size to maintain traceability and a reputable paper trail. The farm also offers free hulling and shelling services to local almond growers and uses a pasteurization machine to ensure almonds are safe for consumption.

The Rest

Capay Canyon Ranch markets its products internationally, including in Europe, North America, Central America, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, the Middle East, Israel, India, and China. Research studies highlight the health benefits of almonds, such as lowering total and LDL cholesterol and decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. The farm's integrated approach to farming, handling, and marketing allows it to offer high-quality California almonds to a worldwide market.
