About the Farm
Background
Located in Snohomish, Washington, the farm sits on a picturesque property originally homesteaded by the Hoem Family in the 1880s. Known as Glenwood, this land has supported dairy and beef cows, sheep, and row crops for over a century. The current owners continue this long tradition of family agriculture, maintaining the farm's legacy in the fertile Snohomish River Valley.
Practices
The farm raises Katahdin hair sheep from birth to harvest on lush grass pastures, ensuring the lambs are grass-fed and of high quality. The focus on grass-fed practices not only enhances the flavor and leanness of the meat but also promotes a healthier ecosystem. The farm uses Falling River Meats for processing, emphasizing the importance of planning ahead due to high demand.
The Rest
The farm occasionally offers cull ewes and rams, which provide economical options with larger cuts suitable for marinating, slow cooking, or braising. Visitors are welcome by appointment to respect the working nature of the farm and the owners' home. The farm also engages in community activities, with the owner volunteering for agricultural organizations and teaching Lean farming topics.
