About the Farm
Background
Since 1998, a family farm in South Louisiana has been breeding miniature Jerseys and miniature Guernseys. Known for their cow share program, they enable people to drink raw milk from their own cows while the farm handles all the care and milking.
Practices
The farm conducts yearly tests for a range of diseases including Anaplasmosis, Blue Tongue, Bovine Leukosis Virus (BLV), BVD, Brucellosis, Campylobacter, Coxiella Burnetii (Q Fever), IBR, Johnes, Leptospirosis, Neospora, and TB. They also test their milk for strep, staph, coliform count, and E. coli, ensuring that only disease-free mini milkers are sold. The cows are grass-fed, and the farm takes care of pasture maintenance, fencing, and all aspects of cow care including milking and cleanup.
The Rest
In addition to the cow share program, the farm sells miniature milk cows suitable for small acreage, needing as little as 5 acres to graze. This allows families to enjoy raw milk and the experience of owning a cow without requiring extensive land.
